New York City’s Fleet Week

27. May 2010 by Christy 0 Comments

Each year, New York City hosts Fleet Week, a week dedicated to honoring the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. New York's Fleet Week 2010 runs from May 26-June 2 and is expected to draw thousands of visitors.

Fleet Week coincides with Memorial Day and includes demonstrations honoring the men and women who have lost their lives while serving in the armed forces. The general public may also tour visiting ships, watch a variety of competitions, attend the parade of ships in New York City’s harbor, and watch performances featuring sailors and Marines. The events attract both tourists and native New Yorkers and Fleet Week even factored into an episode of the wildly popular American television show Sex and the City.

Here are a few pictures of the fun and unique event that is New York City’s Fleet Week. As you can see, the ladies love a man in uniform!
