American men are charmed by Russian and Ukrainian ladies, but some also have misconceptions. They think: These women look much like our women, so they must think the same way, too!

But there are many differences between American and Russian/Ukrainian values.

Here are some key points in understanding the American mindset and how it relates to you.

Time

Have you ever set a time to chat with a man on the Internet and he is annoyed that you are late? Americans live and die by the clock. "Time is money" is a very common expression. They are often on a schedule and are taught not to be late.
 

Individualism

America was built by people who were not afraid to take risks. Its culture rewards people who stand out and take bold risks. The American men you meet on the Internet may not understand that Russians and Europeans value collectivism, conformity, and working within the system.

Money

In surveys of Russian and American students, the Americans ranked these values in importance: Money, career, family friends. Russians ranked the same values this way: Family, friends, career, money.

That does not mean American men care about money more than family! It means that in America, you must make money to take care of your family. 

Fate

Russians tend to accept life as it is, and to believe in fate. Americans strongly believe that through hard work and luck, anyone can change their lot in life. Again, look at the picture in this article!

Happiness

A mix of Hollywood, capitalism and pioneer spirit makes Americans always strive for more. American men may not understand that you are content with your life as it is. Many Americans think if you're not living a life like a Hollywood star, you're not completely happy.
